PhD position in HybridLabs – Immersive experiences for communication and stakeholder engagement for North Sea Ecology

This PhD project will investigate how to create immersive digital twins efficiently for the North Sea integrating both sensed data such as 360° videography and results from simulations. The PhD candidate will be involved in the design of immersive experiences for the North Sea and will also conduct empirical studies to identify the challenges and opportunities of using immersive digital twins for science communication as well as stakeholder and citizen engagement.
Deadline: 10 June 2024

PhD position in HybridLabs – Combining floating offshore energy with nature inclusive seafood production; focus on suspended shellfish culture and benthic organisms

The PhD project will study the biodiversity development among the shellfish cultures and how these cultures will enrich the seafloor. To this end shellfish production will be related to the quantity and quality of biodeposits produced, the size-dependent sinking velocity of the faecal pellets and dispersion and fate of the biodeposits.

PhD in Precision Fermentation

Are you passionate about the future of sustainable food production and eager to contribute to the fast-developing field of cellular agriculture? We are seeking a mission-driven individual to join our team as a PhD candidate in Precision Fermentation, with a focus on Process Development and Intensification.
Deadline: 12 June 2024

PhD in Fermentation and Food Safety

We are looking for an ambitious PhD student with great interest in fermentation and food safety. The PROSAFE project, funded by NWO, aims to valorise vegetable side-streams into food products through fermentation to reduce food waste and achieve a more sustainable food system. You will design the fermentation strategy such that microorganisms convert side-streams of mushrooms and bean sprouts into a safe food product that is characterized by good palatability and digestibility.
Deadline: 12 June 2024

PhD in fermentation technology and metabolic engineering

Are you passionate about sustainable production of compounds and eager to contribute to much needed transition from fossil to renewable resources? We are looking for a mission-driven individual to join our team as a PhD candidate in Microbial Biotechnology, with a focus on fermentation technology and metabolic engineering.
Deadline: 23 June 2024

PhD Social acceptance of fermented foods from waste streams

This project contributes to reduction of food waste by exploring how currently wasted edible parts of vegetables can become food products for consumers. In order to understand this process, the project looks at a range of actors in the food system, including vegetable producers, product developers, chefs and consumers.
